Be involved

Dear friends, everyone who studies Tibetan medicine,
Tibetan language or is going to do it!

Under the auspices of the website "Tanaduk": https://tanaduk108.com
launched the project "be involved" http://forum.tanaduk108.com .
At the moment, the translation of two interesting sources on Tibetan medicine has been started: the first is the legendary work of "Four Tantras", which is the Foundation of Tibetan medical science; and the second - the so-called (among colleagues) "Prescription of Dr. Dava". The book is replete with a gigantic set of recipes used in Tibetan medicine, the methods of processing of raw materials are told, there are indications of the interchangeability of raw materials and lots of other useful information. You can download it here on the website "Tanaduk" in the Library.

Why did we choose these books? Yes, there are several translations of "Four Tantras" into Russian, but all of them have their drawbacks. First, the full translation of All four Tantras is done by Dashiev. It was made in those years when information about Tibetan medicine was not so much. Now the situation has been changed for the better: there are new translations on this subject, in particular, a series of translations made by A. Kosoburov; Tibetan masters of medical tradition began to come and conduct training in Russia (Dr. Nida Chenagtsang, Geshe Rinchen Tenzin, etc.) ; a number of our compatriots were able to study at the "main medical Institute" — Men-Tsee-Khang in India. Now it becomes possible to use comments of "Four Tantras" in other languages, primarily in Tibetan. Due to this, the Russian-speaking environment began to develop a deeper understanding of the terms of Tibetan medicine than it was available to earlier researchers.

The format of "Be involved" is interesting because at the" rough " stage of translation it is possible to discuss certain variants, to select more suitable synonyms of words, thereby reducing the possibility of making a mistake of translation. In addition, it is a great opportunity for the team to acquire the skills of translation of texts. Unlike seminars and lessons, there is no time limit – everything is made in the form of a forum and you can leave your comments and suggestions at any time on any proposal.

Dr. Dava's recipe book is also an interesting text because it has the most number of recipes than others recipe's books. The second feature is the translation of the recipe book is technically the most simple, it has a specific terminology and there are no complex "sophisticated" phrases present in the texts of the philosophical direction. It is a convenient material for the initial stage of translation activity.

As a result of joint work can be obtained as a full book in paper, and its various electronic versions available to the community. And even a small contribution of each participant will be in it.
Register on the forum "Be involved", download the work, the translation of which is currently underway, connect electronic Tibetan dictionary or use any other dictionary option, follow the translation (from anywhere), make suggestions on terms, the version of translation, download updated in the course of work "Clean" and "Draft", help to conduct the work (typing, formatting, etc.). It's gonna be a win-win.

Sincerely, coordinator of the project "Be involved",
Konstantin Rukosuev kostya@irk.ru
